Bournemouth Boscombe Pier Beach is a sandy beach resort, approximately one kilometre wide, backed by a promenade. The beach forms part of the 15 kilometre coastline of Poole Bay on the Dorset coast and is a sloping sandy beach considered safe for bathing.
The beach offers a wide range of seafront activities, including windsurfing, surfing, canoeing, and amusement arcades. There is also a Kidzone area, making it a family-friendly destination. Visitors can enjoy beach volleyball courts, table tennis, and mini-golf, or simply soak up the sun and play in the sand and waves.
The beach is part of a long stretch of flat, sandy shoreline between Sandbanks to the west and Hengistbury Head to the east. The water quality is good, and the beach attracts plenty of visitors in the summer months. The restored pier offers views along the coastline and out towards the Isle of Wight.
In 2009, an artificial surf reef was created in the hope of making Boscombe a top surfing destination. However, the reef was not successful, and the area has since been re-developed as a Coastal Activity Park.
There is a car park close to the beach, although this can fill up quickly in the summer months. Alternatively, the beach can be accessed using the land train, which runs from Bournemouth Pier. The beach also offers attractive beach huts for hire, including more modern pods.
Bournemouth Boscombe Pier Beach is adjacent to the Bournemouth Coast Path.
