Clevedon Beach, situated on the Somerset coast, is a popular seaside resort that offers a mix of traditional Victorian charm and modern amenities.
Clevedon Beach is a long, pebble beach that runs south-west from Clevedon, an old Victorian seaside resort located at the mouth of the River Severn. The beach is approximately 850 metres wide and is a sand and pebble beach, backed by a promenade and the town.
The beach is situated on the Somerset coast, overlooking the Bristol Channel, and is dominated by the traditional Victorian Pier. The seafront includes public gardens, a traditional bandstand, as well as a range of visitor attractions and amusements. A marine lake at the beach is filled by sea water on high tides.
The pier, which is popular with fishermen, is a local tourist attraction and hosts a range of events throughout the year. The town of Clevedon itself is a lovely Victorian seaside town with cafes and restaurants, independent stores, and a high street.
Visitors should be aware that there are specific regulations regarding dogs on Clevedon Beach. Dogs (except guide dogs) are not allowed on the main beach at any time, although they are permitted on the promenade on a lead.
Clevedon Pier, which opened on Easter Monday 1869, was given Grade 1 listed building status in 2001, making it the only Grade 1 listed pier in England.
Visitors should also be aware of the potential dangers of the mudflats at low tide.
