Conwy Morfa Beach

Conwy Morfa Beach is a large sandy bay located on the North Wales coast, offering a picturesque and rural beach experience.

Conwy Morfa Beach is situated a short drive from the town of Conwy, on the southern side of the River Conwy estuary. The beach is characterised by a wide expanse of marshy, golden sand backed by a layer of shingle and grassy dunes, dominated by the grassy slopes of Mynydd y Dref (Conwy Mountain). At low tide, the beach forms part of the extensive sands and mussel banks of Conwy Bay, and links up with other beaches in the Colwyn Bay area. However, visitors are advised to check tide times before attempting to walk out at low tide, as some of the sandbanks can be cut off quickly by the incoming tides.

Conwy Morfa Beach is a popular spot for building sandcastles, birdwatching, and dog walking, with no restrictions on dog walking at any time of the year. The beach is also a good place to search for sea glass, although visitors are advised to take care as there are some sharp pieces of glass and metal present. From the beach, there are scenic views out over the Conwy Bay shoreline and across the estuary towards Great Orme.

Access to the beach is from a small car park just off the North Wales Expressway. The nearby town of Conwy offers a range of amenities and attractions, while golfers can enjoy a round at the Conwy Caernarvonshire Golf Club, which has stunning views of the North Wales coastline. The area is also steeped in history, with Conwy having once been one of the most important pearl fisheries in the country, with over 4 kilos of pearls from Conwy mussels being sent each week to jewellers in London in the early 19th century.
