Old Hunstanton Beach is situated to the north of Hunstanton town and is a quieter alternative to its southern neighbour. The beach is characterised by its wide expanse of flat, golden sand which is revealed at low tide. The southern section of the beach, near St Edmund's Point, is backed by Hunstanton's distinctive red and white cliffs. Further north, the cliffs give way to sand dunes and a colourful array of beach huts.
The beach is a popular spot for families, with its gently sloping sand making it generally safe. At higher tides, the beach is a popular spot for kite-surfing. A row of colourful beach huts is located just behind the sand dunes, and the Beach Cafe on the seafront offers lunch and refreshments. The beach is dog friendly all year round.
Old Hunstanton Beach is located near the village of Old Hunstanton, which retains its own character and is set a little way to the north of Hunstanton. The beach is easily accessible, with pay and display parking available just a minute from the beach.
Hunstanton, including Old Hunstanton Beach, is part of the only stretch of Norfolk's coast to face west, making it a sheltered spot and a great location to watch the sunset. The beach's unique red and white striped cliffs and huge stones, covered in green moss, are revealed at low tide.
Old Hunstanton Beach is adjacent to the Norfolk Coast Path.
