Seaton Beach, located in Lyme Bay on the south coast of Devon, is a popular resort town beach that offers a unique combination of natural beauty, recreational activities, and amenities.
Seaton Beach is a shingle beach approximately one kilometre wide, formed by a large expanse of legally protected pebbles. The beach is backed by steep cliffs at the western end, while the eastern end features the River Axe Estuary, which enters the sea through a small harbour.
Seaton Bay, with its mile-long pebble beach, is situated on the edge of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO world heritage site. The beach is well-served by the seaside town of Seaton, offering a range of amenities and activities.
The beach offers a variety of watersports, including stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and sea trips and safaris. Visitors can also enjoy refreshment kiosks and cafes, beach huts, and toilets on the seafront. Parking is available along the seafront and in large public car parks nearby.
A recent esplanade at the western end of the beach affords easy access along its length, with a café and facilities at the end of the stroll. Dogs are allowed at both ends of Seaton beach all year round, but are not permitted in the middle section between May 1st and September 30th.
Seaton Beach is on the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
