Jacob's Ladder beach gets its name from the wooden steps which lead down from Conaught Gardens. The beach can also be accessed via a level path from Sidmouth Town Beach.
The pebbles on the beach are legally protected, so it is actually an offence to take them away!
Sidmouth Jacobs Ladder Beach is on the East Devon Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
