Exmouth Beach is a spacious resort that boasts fine gardens and parks, some of which date back to the town's Victorian heyday. The beach is backed by a sea wall and Queens Drive, and features a wide promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and pubs. The beach itself is approximately 1.8 kilometres wide and offers two miles of sandy shoreline, ideal for a variety of activities.
Exmouth is situated on the south coast of Devon, at the mouth of the Exe Estuary. The beach stretches from the mouth of the Exe in the east to Orcombe Point in the west, and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
Exmouth Beach is a popular destination for water sports, including boat trips, kayaking, kite surfing, stand-up paddle-boarding, swimming, and windsurfing. The beach is also ideal for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts, and cyclists, and features a range of local restaurants and shops. Families can enjoy classic seaside entertainment, such as crazy golf, dinosaur safari trails, and a variety of food choices.
The beach has a lifeguard service and offers a range of facilities, including public toilets, ice cream and refreshment kiosks, and family facilities behind the beach at Queens Drive Space. There are also fairly large public car parks close by, and boat launching facilities at Mamhead slipway. Dogs are welcome on many parts of the beach throughout the year, although there are seasonal restrictions on the main beach.
Exmouth Beach hosts a range of annual celebrations, including the Exmouth Festival, the Kite Festival in spring and summer, and seafood festivals later in the year. Visitors can also enjoy rock pooling, building sandcastles, and picnics on the beach, as well as exploring the nearby private beach, Sandy Bay.
Exmouth Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
