Ladram Bay is a small beach resort, approximately 145 metres wide, backed by cliffs and characterised by two high red rock sea stacks. The bay is surrounded by sheer red sandstone cliffs and features a sand and shingle beach. It is one of the highlights of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Facilities available at Ladram Bay include the Ladram Bay Holiday Park and Pebbles Restaurant. The beach is suitable for watersports and safe for swimming, although there is no lifeguard service. Visitors can enjoy boat and kayak hire, fishing, and barbeque pits. A beach kiosk sells ice creams and drinks, making it an ideal spot for families.
Access to the beach can be a little challenging, with the only road access being through the Ladram Bay Holiday Park. The park has operated a residents-only policy of access during the summer months, making it difficult for non-residents to visit. However, the beach can be accessed via a slipway from the park, and the South West Coast Path runs directly past the beach. Ladram Bay is located around a mile from the village of Otterton, and the nearest large town, Sidmouth, is about 2 miles to the north.
The bay is part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the South West Coast Path, which runs along the Jurassic Coast, famous for its ancient rock formations and abundant fossils. The scenic views of the sandstone sea stacks are stunning, and walking along the South West Coast Path offers great views of the coastline.
Ladram Bay is on the East Devon Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
