Sandy Bay is a sandy beach backed by high cliffs, part of a long strip of sand which at low tide is connected all the way to Exmouth. The beach is approximately a mile in length and offers sheltered and inviting sands ideal for a family getaway.
The beach is privately owned and access is gained via Littleham Village and through Devon Cliffs Holiday Park. Ample parking is available, together with a shop and restaurant. Lifeguards are on patrol during the summer months, and the gentle access to the sea makes this beach perfect for bathers and a wide variety of water sports. There are many rockpools and secret hideaways to discover, making this the perfect spot for a full family day out.
The beach is located near Exeter and is part of the famous Jurassic Coast. At low tide, you can walk along the sand all the way to Exmouth beach, nearly two miles away. Nearby Orcombe rocks is a heritage site, well known for its fossils.
Please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach between April 1st and October 31st. The beach is closed during the winter months and can get very crowded in the summer due to its proximity to the holiday park and the city of Exeter.
The Devon Cliffs seaside caravan resort, owned by Haven Holidays, is located just above the beach. The nearby Orcombe rocks offer a great spot for fossil hunting.
Sandy Bay is on the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
