Dawlish Town Beach is a sandy beach resort, approximately 650 metres wide, close to the town and cliffs. The beach, a mixture of sand and shingle, follows the curve of the sheltered bay from Lea Mount to Langstone Rock, a distance of over a mile. This makes it an ideal spot for swimming and other water activities.
The beach is easily accessible, being just a short walk from the town centre. One of the unique features of Dawlish Town Beach is the railway, with Dawlish train station located right on the seafront, running along the beach. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls along the sea wall, soak up the sun on the sand and shingle shore, or take part in boat and fishing trips around the bay. These trips offer the exciting possibility of spotting dolphins.
The area around the beach caters well to visitors' needs, with plenty of places to eat just around the corner from the station. The relaxed atmosphere and charming surroundings make Dawlish Town Beach an excellent spot for a peaceful day by the sea.
Dogs are allowed along the beach from the slipway adjacent to the Railway Station until 230 metres before Red Rock at Dawlish Warren.
Dawlish Town Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
