Row Cove is a small beach situated approximately 5 miles south-east of Plymouth, characterised by a sandy shoreline interspersed with rocks and surrounded by rocky areas. The beach is set in a large, sheltered bay at the western extreme of Bigbury Bay. Access to the beach is via a narrow path and down steps, originating from Revelstoke Caravan Park, which has limited parking and toilet facilities.
The beach at Row Cove offers a variety of activities for visitors, including exploring the numerous rock pools that are home to a range of sea life, making it an ideal destination for families and children. The cove is also a popular spot for bird watchers, with a variety of species to be observed. The beach is situated close to the South West Coast Path, providing opportunities for walkers and hikers to enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding area.
Visitors to Row Cove may also be interested in exploring the nearby church of Peter the Poor Fisherman, which dates back to the 13th century and is located a couple of hundred meters to the south of the beach, through the caravan park.
In comparison to other local beaches, such as Old Cellars Beach (or Cellar beach) near Noss Mayo, Row Cove offers a distinct experience. While Old Cellars Beach is a more secluded and rural destination, accessible by foot or by boat, it features a similar combination of sandy and rocky shores, and is popular with fishermen, kayakers, and paddle boarders.
Row Cove is on the South Devon Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
