Dawlish Coryton Cove, a secluded sandy cove on the south coast of Devon, offers a tranquil escape from busier coastal areas.

Dawlish Coryton Cove, formerly known as Gentleman's Cove, is a small, secluded sand and pebble beach on the outskirts of the town of Dawlish. The crescent-shaped beach is approximately 200 metres wide, backed by cliffs, and rewards visitors with a vista of soft, golden sand, flanked by stunning cliffs of iron-red Devon rock.

The beach is suitable for swimming, although there is no lifeguard service. Children will enjoy exploring the sea-life in the many rock pools that are exposed here at low tide. There is even a chance of spotting dolphins in the bay during a visit to this beach. Visitors can also try their hand at fishing off the breakwater.

Roadside parking is often available along Marine Parade towards the centre of Dawlish, a little more than 100 meters from the beach which can then be reached along the South West Coast Path. There is further parking in the centre of Dawlish, or at a car park on Coronation Avenue about 200 meters from the beach.

Facilities at the beach include a café, and a number of beach huts which can be hired. However, there are no toilets at Coryton but neighbouring Boat Cove has some with disabled facilities. There is a wider selection of shops, pubs and restaurants in the town centre.

The railway between Dawlish and Teignmouth emerges from a tunnel underneath the spectacular red cliff and passes the beach along an embankment. Trains, including occasional steam engines, pass through tunnels in the cliffs, adding a fascinating element to the scenic views.

Dogs are not permitted on the beach from April 1st to September 30th, in line with seasonal restrictions.

Dawlish Coryton Cove is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
