The beach is steeply sloping and pebbly leading to a large area of flat sand closer to the sea. There are steep cliffs to the north of the beach leading up to St Bees Head. A wide promenade and garden, RSPB reserve and children's play park are nearby.
St Bees Beach is adjacent to the Cumbria Coastal Way.
