Pontllyfni Beach is a long sand and shingle bay situated in Caernarfon Bay, with the small village of Pontllyfni providing a picturesque backdrop. The beach is nestled in a tranquil setting, surrounded by mountains and offering breathtaking views. A beach resort is located nearby, providing private access to the beach.
The beach terrain is composed mainly of shingle mixed with sand, and a grassy area behind the beach is suitable for picnics. A slipway leads onto the beach, and the Afon Llyfni (river) enters the sea here, with a path leading along the riverbank. This stretch of the coast is popular with walkers, dog walkers, and fishermen. The beach faces west, making it an ideal spot for spectacular sunsets.
Aberdesach Beach, located just south of Pontllyfni, is another lovely coastal destination. This unspoilt beach offers stunning views, and visitors may even catch a glimpse of seals or porpoises swimming near the shore. The beach is perfect for fishing, kayaking, or paddle boarding. The historic county town of Caernarfon, home to Wales' most famous castle and UNESCO World Heritage Site, is easily accessible from here.
There are numerous holiday cottages and self-catering accommodations near the beach, including dog-friendly options. Aberdesach Beach is a great base for exploring this part of the coast.
