Porthcurno Beach is set in an idyllic cove with golden white sand and striking cliffs as a backdrop. The beach is approximately 130 metres wide and is popular with both locals and tourists. A small stream flows onto the beach, dispersing over the sand.
The beach joins up with two other beaches at low tide, creating an expanse of golden sand that runs from the Minack Theatre to the Logan Rock. The clear turquoise water is suitable for swimming and surfing, although conditions can be changeable and sometimes hazardous. Visitors can access the beach easily from a large car park.
The beach is ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, and family outings, with easy access to parking and amenities. The South West Coast Path winds along the beach, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and walkers. Dogs are restricted during the summer months (1 May - 30 September, 8am-7pm) but are allowed on the beach for the remainder of the year.
Porthcurno Beach is known as 'the centre of the universe' due to its historical significance as the location where the first telegraph cable was laid in 1870. Visitors can explore the Minack Theatre, an open-air clifftop venue that hosts various productions throughout the year.
Porthcurno Beach is on the Penwith Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
