Sennen Cove, situated one mile northeast of Land's End, is nestled in the southeast corner of the long sweeping sand of Whitesand Bay. The beach is exposed to the Atlantic Ocean, making it a favourite spot for surfers. A working fishing port operates in the area, adding to the cove's charm.
Sennen Cove is located 1.6 kilometres northeast of Land's End in Cornwall. The beach is a large sandy resort, approximately 940 metres wide, backed by sand dunes. Two small streams flow onto the beach, dispersing over the sand.
The beach is very popular with surfers, as it picks up any Atlantic swells. It is also a great family beach, with seasonal lifeguards and plenty of amenities close by. Facilities include a pub, cafes, a surf shop, two surf schools, and a large car park. The beach is big enough to never feel overcrowded, and if it's busy, visitors can simply walk further along the beach.
Sennen Cove is renowned as Cornwall's most westerly surfing spot, with consistent waves attracting surfers of all levels. Visitors can book lessons at the local surfing schools. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty from Easter to the end of October, ensuring safety, and it's recommended to swim between the red and yellow flags on calmer days.
The South West Coast Path runs through Sennen Cove, providing access to stunning coastal walks. A popular route is south to Porthgwarra, a 4.5-mile walk with dramatic cliff-top views, rock arches, and the chance to spot seals and dolphins. Visitors can also walk towards Land's End, part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), for incredible scenery.
Dogs are banned from the beach from 15th May to 30th September between 10am and 6pm, but are welcome outside these times. Public toilets are available near the beach car park and the harbour car park, ensuring convenience for visitors.
Sennen Beach is on the Penwith Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
