Perranuthnoe Beach, also known as Perran Sands, is a rural sandy beach situated on the south coast of Cornwall, approximately 350 metres wide. The beach is backed by ochre-coloured cliffs and is popular with surfers, particularly during the winter months. At high tide, the beach almost disappears, leaving just a narrow band of rocks, but at low tide, an expanse of flat sand is revealed.
Access to the beach is via steps or a slipway. The beach is well-equipped with amenities, including public toilets and a beachfront cafe, The Cabin Beach Cafe, which offers refreshments and light bites during the day. Seasonal RNLI lifeguard services are available from early July to early September, providing a safe environment for young swimmers.
Perranuthnoe Beach is ideal for families and offers reasonably consistent surfing conditions, although the waves tend to be flatter during the summer months. The coastal paths near Perranuthnoe Beach offer breathtaking views and a variety of walking routes, including the popular walk from Perranuthnoe to Prussia Cove. Nearby attractions include the historic market town of Marazion and the enchanting St Michael's Mount.
The charming local village consists of a church and a pub, The Victoria Inn, one of Cornwall's oldest inns, serving award-winning food and local beverages. Dogs are welcome on the beach most of the year, but restrictions apply from July 1 to August 31 between 10 am and 6 pm.
Perranuthnoe Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
