Porthminster Beach is a spectacular 1km sandy beach with a Mediterranean feel, making it an ideal destination for families. The beach is gently sloping, easily accessible, and offers calm waters and excellent views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy lighthouse.
Located on the north coast of Cornwall, Porthminster Beach is the easternmost and second-largest of St Ives' four beaches. It is situated just below the St Ives railway terminus, a short walk from the town centre.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including deck chair rentals, a mini-golf course, and a promenade. Visitors can also hire sandchairs, making it an accessible destination for all abilities. The Porthminster Beach Café, an award-winning seafood restaurant, overlooks the beach, providing both indoor and outdoor dining options with spectacular views of the bay.
The beach is perfect for swimming and enjoying the turquoise sea, with clean waters and a range of activities available. However, dogs are banned from the beach between May 15th and September 30th, from 10am to 6pm. At other times of the year, dogs are welcome.
St Ives has long attracted artists, with its picturesque settings, warm climate, and famously clear light. The beach is close to the centre of St. Ives, where there are shops, restaurants, and a plenty of visitor attractions.

There is a car park right by the beach but it fills quickly. Alternative parking spots can be found at either St Erth or Lelant Saltings.
