Gwithian Beach is a long, beautiful, and sandy rural beach, well known for surfing and seldom crowded. The beach is approximately 670 metres wide and is backed by sand dunes. It is a west-facing beach and one of Cornwall's surfing hotspots, making it an ideal location for both beginners and experienced surfers.
There is a cafe and beach shop by the main car park, providing convenient amenities for visitors. The Gwithian Academy of Surfing is also located on the beach, offering lessons and training for surfers of all abilities. In the summer season, lifeguards are on duty, providing an added layer of safety for beachgoers. Nature lovers can enjoy the abundance of wildlife and stunning views by walking the South West Coast Path.
While the beach is an excellent place for a family day out, visitors should be aware that there can be serious rip currents in the surf off the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach between 1 October and 30 April, but are restricted in parts during the summer season.
