Portheras Cove is a rural, unspoilt little cove situated on the South West Coast Path, to the east of Pendeen Watch lighthouse. The cove can only be accessed on foot, making it an ideal location for coastal walkers.
The cove is surrounded by rugged cliffs and offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. It features a sandy beach, a waterfall, and dramatic cliffs. However, visitors should be aware that there are bits of shipwreck and metal in the sand.
The tides at Portheras Cove are known to be dangerous, with a strong undertow and occasional strong rip currents, particularly at low tide. As a result, there is no lifeguard service, and visitors are advised to exercise caution when swimming.
The cove has no facilities, but it is dog-friendly year-round, making it a popular destination for pet owners. Its natural charm and tranquil environment also make it a favourite among nature lovers, who may catch a glimpse of seals.
Portheras Cove is on the Penwith Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
