Grouville Beach is a stretch of golden sands that sweeps south along the Royal Bay of Grouville to La Roque Point. The beach provides a winter home to large numbers of migrating waders, such as turnstones and sanderlings.
The beach is an attractive, wide, sandy destination that offers a range of activities for visitors. Queen Victoria was so impressed with the area when she visited that she decided to give it a Royal Epithet, hence the name The Royal Bay of Grouville. The beach is popular for swimmers as the shallow waters are warmed by the sun and the currents are not too strong. Children will enjoy playing in the fine golden sands and a wide variety of watersports are on offer at the beach. However, please note that there is no lifeguard in attendance.
There are plenty of parking spaces along the beach as well as cafes, pubs, restaurants and kiosks, a children’s playground and toilet facilities. The beach backs on to the village of Gorey at its northern end and the Royal Jersey Golf Club to the south. It has a view of Gorey harbour and Mont Orgueil Castle.
Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a lead at all times. The beach is cleaned at regular intervals throughout the year.
Nearby, visitors can explore the charming fishing port of Bouley Bay, which features a small sandy beach and cafe.
