Portelet Beach, located on Jersey's south coast, is a picturesque bay that offers a unique combination of sandy and rocky areas, making it a popular destination for families. .

Portelet Beach is a beautiful bay that also serves as a small working harbour. The bay has a good mixture of sand and rocky areas, making it an ideal spot for families. The beach is sheltered by cliffs, which provide a natural protection from the elements. However, access to the beach requires a steep climb down steps from the cliff top, which can be a deterrent for some visitors.

The beach at Portelet is characterised by fine, golden sand and plenty of rocky features and pools, providing something for everyone to enjoy. A notable feature of the bay is the tower on the small island, L'Île au Guerdain, just off the beach. This island is home to "Janvrin's Tomb", a circular tower dating back to the 1720s, which commemorates Philippe Janvrin, a local sea captain who died on his ship in 1721.

Swimming at Portelet is generally considered safe, but visitors are advised to be cautious when visiting the island, as the incoming tide can cut off access. Unfortunately, due to the difficult access, there are no facilities on the beach itself. The closest amenities can be found at the Portelet Inn, located back up the cliff.

For those looking to explore the surrounding area, Bouley Bay, a charming fishing port with a small sandy beach and cafe, is worth a visit.
