Gwbert, also known as Gwbert-on-Sea, is a tiny village situated on the cliffs at the mouth of the River Teifi. The village is named after an early wandering saint who is said to have made land here and taken shelter in a cave. The area is renowned for its stunning views of Cardigan Bay and its diverse wildlife.
Gwbert is home to three small coves, each with its own distinct character.
* Morgan's Beach is the most popular and features a modestly sized patch of sand surrounded by dark shale cliffs. Access to the beach is via steps carved into the rocks.
* Evelyn's Beach, located closest to the village, is primarily made up of pebbles and is the easiest to access, but is considered the least appealing of the three beaches.
* Cowley Beach is a narrow, rocky inlet with some sandy areas, situated between Morgan's and Evelyn's beaches, and is also accessed by steps carved into the rocks.
The Gwbert area is well known for its rich variety of flora, fauna, and sealife. Visitors may be able to spot a range of coastal birds, as well as some of Cardigan Bay's resident dolphins or even a whale.
