New Quay, also known as Ceinewydd, is an internationally renowned resort village that was once a thriving fishing port and shipbuilding centre. The village is a bustling harbour town with a lovely beach, attracting many visitors in the summer.
The village is home to several beaches, including Harbour Beach and Traeth Gwyn Beach. Harbour Beach boasts deep golden sands and a secluded harbour, offering both bathing and boating facilities. It is a smaller beach and can get crowded, making it less suitable for families with a lot of equipment or those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.
Traeth Gwyn Beach, on the other hand, stretches around New Quay Bay from the lifeboat station to Llaina Point. This primarily sandy beach offers a wide expanse of beach, especially at low tide, allowing for ample space for beach activities such as sunbathing, picnicking, and playing games. The beach is dog-friendly year-round, making it an attractive option for dog owners.
The village provides various facilities, including pay-for car parks, places to eat, drink, shop, and stay. Wildlife-watching boat trips depart regularly from the harbour in peak season, offering visitors the opportunity to spot seals and dolphins that live in the bay. South Beach, located at the southern end of the wide stretch of sand below the harbour, is close to the lifeboat station and the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre.
