Aberaeron is a lovely little harbour town known for its good arts and crafts, as well as its delicious honey ice-cream. The town has a rich history as a thriving port, with ship building, herring fisheries, and industry, although these days it attracts visitors throughout the year.
The Aberaeron North Beach is a rocky stretch of coastline, backed by a coastal path, located about half a mile north of Aberaeron harbour. The beach offers stunning views along the Ceredigion coastline and out towards the Irish Sea. It is a popular spot for walkers, sailing enthusiasts, fishermen, and birdwatchers.
The beach is part of the Wales Coast Path, providing scenic walking routes along the coastline. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls while taking in the beautiful views of Cardigan Bay. The area is also popular for sea fishing, with opportunities for both shore fishing and small boat sailing. The southern part of the beach is popular among experienced surfers and bodyboarders, particularly when conditions are favourable.
Dogs are allowed on Aberaeron Beach, although restrictions may apply during the peak summer season (May to September). It is advisable to check local signage for specific regulations. However, Aberaeron North beach is dog friendly all year round.
The town of Aberaeron has some beautiful Regency-era buildings and plenty of craft shops and good places to eat. Visitors can try the local honey and honey ice-cream, and each year the town hosts a seafood festival. There are a number of car parks in the town, including one just south-west of the harbour, by the yacht club and another at the end of Lower Regent Street right next to the shoreline.
Aberaeron North Beach is adjacent to the Ceredigion Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
