Gilfach yr Halen Beach is situated in a relatively remote area of the Welsh coast, between New Quay and Aberaeron. The beach is a small, secluded shingle and rock beach, backed by cliffs. The Ceredigion Coastal Path passes adjacent to the beach, making it a popular spot for walkers seeking solitude and scenic views. The Afon Cwinten river enters the sea at this point, and the cliffs are backed by rural land.
Access to the beach can be challenging, with limited parking available for those not staying at the nearby holiday village. Visitors are advised to take care not to block the single-track road. There are no formal facilities directly on the beach, so visitors should come prepared with necessary supplies, such as food, water, and beach gear. A short walk from the nearby parking area is required to reach the beach.
