Shanklin North Beach, located on the Isle of Wight, is a popular destination for beachgoers, offering a range of activities and amenities in a picturesque setting.

Shanklin beach forms part of Sandown Bay, renowned for its long sandy beaches and safe bathing areas. The beach is well served by longshoremen, providing traditional and modern leisure pursuits. Groynes along the beach help to keep the sand in place. A hurricane in 1987 destroyed the beach's pier.

The beach caters for all tastes with the town's amenities nearby. Visitors can enjoy a range of water sports, including sailing, canoeing, and jet skiing, in a designated water sports zone. Fishing equipment and pedalos are available for hire. The beach is also a popular spot for relaxation, with its beautiful, long, golden sands and cooling dips in the summer. The spectacular red cliff scenery behind the beach adds to the scenic beauty of the surroundings.

The beach is divided up by a number of wooden groynes. There is a choice of car parks along the esplanade that runs along the Shanklin sea front. The beach is reached either down some stairs or down a slipway. There are also public toilets, hotels, pubs, restaurants, shops, a crazy golf course, and an amusement arcade. A walking and cycle route runs alongside the beach, connecting Shanklin to the town of Sandown.

Small Hope Beach, located just north of Shanklin, is a quieter alternative, popular with families during the holidays. The beach is ideal for swimming due to its gentle slope, making it a safe choice for families with children. Shanklin town boasts a railway station, with services across the island to Ryde, and a rich history, including being the place where Charles Darwin wrote ‘The Origin of Species’.

Shanklin North Beach is adjacent to the Isle of Wight Coast Path.
