Yarmouth Beach is a small stretch of mixed sand and shingle located near the mouth of the River Yar. The beach is adjacent to the Royal Solent Yacht Club, which provides on-shore facilities for visiting yachtsmen and organises sailing events throughout the year. The beach is dominated by Yarmouth Pier, a grade II listed structure made entirely of wood, which offers excellent views across the Solent and along the coast.
The beach is conveniently located near the ferry terminal in Yarmouth, making it a popular spot for visitors arriving on the island. A waterfront cafe with outside seating is available, offering great views of the Solent. Yarmouth Pier is also a popular spot for fishing, with a variety of species such as bass, mackerel, and cod to be caught. Visitors can purchase a fishing permit from the Harbour Office.
The historic town of Yarmouth is located nearby, with its quaint cobbled streets, local pubs, and restaurants. Visitors can explore Yarmouth Castle, a beautifully restored 16th-century artillery fortress with an exhibition on local shipwrecks and a picnic area. Yarmouth Green and seafront garden, located a short walk west of the beach, offer benches to rest on and lovely views of the Solent.
