Chesil Beach, also known as Chesil Bank, is a 29-kilometre-long pebble bank that connects the Isle of Portland to the mainland. The beach is a tombolo, the UK's largest, and slopes gently, stretching from Portland to Abbotsbury and West Bay. The pebbles that make up the beach decrease in size from Portland towards West Bay.
Chesil Cove is situated at the most southerly tip of Chesil Beach on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. The cove is a popular spot for scuba divers, particularly those with less experience, due to its shallow waters and minimal tidal currents. It is also a favourite among sea anglers.
Visitors to Chesil Cove can enjoy a range of activities, including scuba diving to explore wrecks, sea angling, and playing a round of golf at the nearby Highcliffe Golf Course in Christchurch, Dorset. The cove is also a great base for coastal days out with guided tours and activities, such as those offered by Jurassic Coast Activities.
Chesil Cove is on the West Dorset Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
