Hollicombe Beach is situated in a bay between Paignton and Torquay, Devon. The beach is approximately 400 metres wide and is characterised by its distinctive red sand, which is ideal for building sandcastles. The beach is backed by red sandstone cliffs and features a stream that flows across the beach into the sea. The sheltered position and southerly aspect of the beach make it a good spot for sunbathing.
There are no facilities on the beach itself, but the nearest toilets are located at Paignton Beach, a 10-minute walk along the coastal footpath. Parking is available about 1 mile from the beach. Access to the beach is from Hollicombe Park/Gardens, via a tunnel under the railway line or over a footbridge with steep steps.
The beach is home to many rock-pools, which are revealed at low tide and are a great place for children to explore. Visitors can also enjoy swimming in the sea and relaxing on the beach. The beach is dog-friendly during the winter months, but dogs are restricted during the summer months from 1 May to 30 September.
The beach was previously known as Gasworks Beach, due to the presence of gasometers in what is now Hollicombe Park.
Hollicombe Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
