Brixham Breakwater Beach is a small, gently shelving shingle beach located between Berry Head and the Brixham Marina breakwater. The beach is approximately 650 metres wide and benefits from easy, level access from a nearby car park. At low tide, pools are exposed between angled tablets of rock, making it an interesting spot for exploration.
The beach boasts a range of facilities, including toilets (including disabled), a café, restaurant, and beach shop. Visitors can enjoy swimming in the calm, clear waters, which are generally safe, with care, and warning flags in operation. Additionally, life-saving equipment is available, and there is a public telephone. The beach is also a great spot for snorkelling and SCUBA diving, with an abundance of sealife, including the occasional sighting of seahorses.
An open-air swimming pool is located at Shoalstone, to the east of the beach, providing an alternative swimming option for visitors.
Brixham Breakwater Beach has been awarded a Blue Flag for its excellent water quality, making it a popular destination for holidaymakers during the summer months. However, dogs are restricted from the beach during the summer season (1 May to 30 September), although they are permitted during the winter months.
Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the breakwater to the lighthouse, which offers breathtaking views of Torbay and is also a good spot for fishing.
Brixham Breakwater Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
