Oddicombe Beach is part of the 'English Riviera', an area known for its mild climate, abundant palm trees, and subtropical vegetation. The beach is situated in Babbacombe Bay, which is particularly favoured for its attractive sandy beaches and good water quality standards.
The beach is a sheltered haven nestling at the bottom of red sandstone cliffs, making it perfect for a relaxing day out. It offers a variety of amenities, including deckchair and sunbed hire, kayak and pedalo hire, a café, and a beach shop. Visitors can also enjoy water sports such as canoeing, sailing, and jet skiing. For those who want to take in the breathtaking views, there is access to the cliff top via the cliff railway, which also features a café.
Oddicombe Beach is a UNESCO Global Geopark Key Site, with interesting cliff formations and geology, including limestone and red sandstone. The beach is accessible via a steep walk from the car park, or by taking the Babbacombe Cliff Railway to the promenade and then descending to the beach via steps. The car park is located approximately half a mile away from the beach, with additional car parks available at St Marychurch and Princes Street.
Dogs are not permitted on Oddicombe Beach from 1 May to 30 September, but are allowed outside of this period. There is no lifeguard service, but disabled toilet facilities are available during the summer months. The beach has received a Blue Flag Award, indicating its high water quality standards.
Oddicombe Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
