Readymoney Beach is situated at the mouth of the Fowey Estuary, sheltered by tall cliffs and bounded to the north by the medieval part of the town of Fowey and to the south west by St Catherine's Castle. The beach is approximately 70 metres wide and gently slopes towards the sea.
The beach is backed by Covington Woods and is a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling, with safe waters within the cove. The Fowey section of the South West Coast Path starts at Readymoney Beach, offering scenic walks to the harbour town of Fowey or the village of Polruan, which can be reached by a 10-minute ferry ride. Visitors can also explore the remains of St Catherine's Castle, built in 1536 by Henry VIII to defend the harbour.
The beach has a rich history, with author Daphne Du Maurier living in a cottage overlooking the beach in the 1940s. Readymoney Beach is also dog friendly, with summer restrictions in place from May 1st to October 30th.
Readymoney Beach is on the Gribbin Head - Polperro Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
