Daymer Bay is a wide sandy beach situated at the mouth of the River Camel, opposite the town of Padstow. The beach is approximately 2.4 kilometres wide and is backed by sand dunes and a golf course. The water is shallow, making it ideal for bathing, and the beach is particularly sheltered at high tide.
The beach is nestled in the shelter of Braey Hill, a large grassy hump that separates it from the neighbouring beach at Rock. A stream flows across the southern end of the beach, and rock pools are exposed at low tide. The beach is also home to St Enodoc Church, a charming little church and the resting place of Sir John Betjeman, the former poet laureate.
Daymer Bay is a popular spot for families, swimming, and windsurfing. At low tide, the sand stretches south to neighbouring Rock Beach. Visitors can purchase all the necessities for a day on the beach at the Daymer Bay Beach Shop, which overlooks the Camel Estuary to Hawkers Cove. The beach is dog friendly all year round.
There is only single track access to the beach, which may be a consideration for visitors. However, the beach's tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings make it an excellent choice for those seeking a relaxing day out.
Daymer Bay is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
