Gyllyngvase Beach is a sheltered sandy beach situated on the outskirts of Falmouth, approximately 350 metres wide, and backed by the Queen Mary Gardens. The beach is a typical family resort, offering a range of facilities and good disabled access. Its long deep sandy stretch of coast makes it an ideal spot for families, with gentle waves that invite kids to splash around and rock pools to explore at low tide.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including public toilets, showers, and changing facilities, making it convenient for families. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, such as daily hires, guided tours, and lessons for paddleboarding and other water sports. The beach is also a great spot for crabbing and snorkeling, particularly at Gylly reef on the south side of the beach.
The family-run Gylly Cafe is located right on the beach, offering a variety of locally sourced dishes, including fish and chips and scallops, from breakfast to dinner. The cafe is known for its light-filled space and stunning views.
The beach is backed by the well-maintained Queen Mary Gardens, and the South West Coast Path runs alongside. Visitors can take scenic walks towards Pendennis Point or Swanpool Beach, or sit on one of the many benches and admire the variety of unusual plants in the gardens.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 15th to September 30th between 10am and 6pm, but are welcome outside of these hours and during the off-peak months.
Gyllyngvase Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
