The British coastline is home to a diverse range of beaches, each with its unique characteristics and attractions, and in this article, we will be exploring Jangye Ryne Beach.
Jangye Ryne is a rocky piece of coastline located on Mounts Bay, situated just north of Church Cove and south of Pedrigwinian, adjacent to Winnianton Farm. Parking facilities are available behind the beach, providing convenient access for visitors.
In contrast to Jangye Ryne, Church Cove is a rural sand and pebble beach located on the south coast of Cornwall. It measures approximately 140 metres wide and is backed by sand dunes, with a stream flowing onto the beach and dispersing over the sand.
It appears that Jangye Ryne is also known as Dollar Cove or ‘Jangye-Ryn’, a small, secluded sandy beach located on the eastern coast of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. This beach is situated between the villages of Gunwalloe and Porthleven and features a beautiful stretch of sandy beach flanked by high cliffs and rocky outcrops. The name ‘Dollar Cove’ is derived from a legend that a Spanish treasure ship sank here in the 18th century, carrying a cargo of silver dollars. While this story remains unconfirmed, many treasure hunters still hope to find hidden riches buried in the sands.
Dollar Cove is popular for rockpooling, thanks to its clear waters and diverse marine life, making it an ideal spot for exploring the underwater world. Visitors should exercise caution, especially when paddling in the sea and exploring the rocky areas. Although there may not be food vendors directly on the beach, nearby options include the Cove Cafe in Gunwalloe, which serves sandwiches, pastries, and coffee, and the Halzephron Inn, known for traditional British cuisine. The beach is backed by the South West Coastal path and has a National Trust car park nearby. Additionally, the beach is dog-friendly all year round, allowing visitors to bring their four-legged friends along for a day of fun in the sun.
