Kennack Sands, located on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, is a picturesque destination featuring two sheltered sandy beaches that form part of a National Nature Reserve.

Kennack Sands is situated on the south coast of Cornwall, near the village of Kuggar. The beach is a rural sandy cove, approximately 250 metres wide, backed by sand dunes, with a stream flowing onto the beach and spreading out over the sand. The beach is split into two sections, Kennack Sands East and Kennack Sands West, separated by a rocky outcrop called Caerverracks.

At low tide, the two beaches merge, revealing a vast expanse of sand perfect for exploration. Kennack Sands is one of the most popular sandy beaches on the Lizard Peninsula and is safe for swimming. The beach is also known among surfers for its good waves, particularly when conditions are right. During the summer months, there is lifeguard cover from May to September.

The beach is part of the Lizard National Nature Reserve and is recognized for its extraordinary geology, featuring exposures of gneiss in the cliffs and red serpentine pebbles, making it unique in the UK. Nature lovers can enjoy the stunning wildlife and cliff top walks, with the possibility of spotting seals and dolphins offshore. Rock pools are revealed at low tide, which are great for children and families to explore, home to various marine life.

At the eastern end of the beach, visitors can find remnants of World War II defenses, including pillboxes and an anti-tank wall. There are plenty of holiday cottages and holiday parks nearby.

Dogs are allowed on the eastern part of the beach year-round, while the western beach has a seasonal dog ban from July 1st to August 31st between 10am and 6 pm.

Kennack Sands is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
