Porthallow Beach, locally known as "Pralla", is an old fishing cove made up of grey pebbles and shale with a few patches of dark sand. The beach is situated in front of the village of Porthallow and is surrounded by hills on either side. A pub is conveniently located right next to the beach. The beach is approximately 150 metres wide and a stream flows onto the shore.
The beach is located on the south coast of Cornwall and is best accessed through the village of St Keverne. A car park is literally on the beach, making it easily accessible for visitors. The beach is a small and sheltered pebble beach that sits right in front of what used to be a busy fishing village, with a thriving pilchard fleet. Although the village is no longer as busy, there are still a few working boats at Porthallow.
At low tide, the beach reveals various rock pools that are perfect for exploring, making it a great spot for families and children to discover marine life. The South West Coast Path Midway Marker is located on Porthallow Beach, signifying the halfway point of the entire South West Coast Path, which stretches for 630 miles along the coastline of Cornwall and Devon. The coastal paths around Porthallow offer excellent walking opportunities, with breathtaking views of the coastline.
