Kynance Cove is a charming cove located two miles north of Lizard Point, and is accessible via a ten-minute walk from the National Trust car park, followed by a descent down a set of steep steps. The cove is renowned for its attractive sandy beach, which is exposed at low tide, and its distinctive serpentine rock formations, unique to the area.
The cove offers a range of activities and features, including a pleasant sandy beach, fabulous caves for exploring, and swimming opportunities when the tide is right. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments at the eco-friendly café located at the beach. One of the cove's most notable features is Devils Bellows, a cave that turns into an impressive blowhole.
Kynance Cove is part of the West Lizard Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is located within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, reflecting its importance as a natural and geological site.
The cove is a popular holiday destination, particularly during the summer months, and can get very busy. Visitors are advised to check the tide times before visiting, as the sandy beach disappears at high tide. Facilities, including National Trust parking, are available nearby.
Kynance Cove is on The Lizard Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
