Swanpool Beach is a small beach, approximately 150 metres in length, consisting of a mix of sand and pebbles. The beach is situated on the edge of Falmouth and is often overshadowed by the larger, sandier Gyllyngvase beach next door. Despite its smaller size, Swanpool Beach has a lot to offer, including a cafe and toilets nearby, as well as a number of beach huts available for seasonal hire.
The beach has a cafe on the beach front, offering snacks and refreshments, and is home to a watersports school that provides equipment hire and lessons for activities such as kayaking, sailing, coasteering, and raft building. This makes it an excellent place for both beginners and experienced water sports enthusiasts. However, it's worth noting that there is no lifeguard service on the beach.
Behind the beach lies a brackish lagoon, known as Swanpool Lake, which is a mix of fresh and salt water. The lagoon is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a haven for nature lovers, home to over 100 species of birds.
The beach is easily accessible, with a large car park right next to the beach, and is just a 20-minute walk to the town centre of Falmouth. Walkers can also take the South West Coast Path along to Gyllyngvase Beach.
Swanpool Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
