Hele Bay is a small cove situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, adjacent to the Hillsborough Nature Reserve. The beach is a sand and shingle cove, approximately 125 metres wide, and is sheltered from prevailing winds.
The bay offers free car parking and toilets, all within easy walking distance. Beach access is via a slipway, although wheelchair access is difficult. Visitors can enjoy rock pooling on both sides of the beach at low tide.
There are plenty of activities to enjoy in and around Hele Bay. Shops, cafes, and pubs are within walking distance, and for those interested in history, the nearby Hillsborough Nature Reserve offers visits to Bronze Age and Roman sites. Additionally, the 16th Century Working Watermill and Museum in Hele Bay Village is worth a visit.
The beach's sheltered location makes it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful beach experience. The surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent nature reserve add to the bay's natural charm.
Hele Bay is on the North Devon Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
