Bovisand Beach, located on the south coast of Devon, is a popular destination for families and locals alike, offering a sheltered bay with golden sands and a range of amenities.
Bovisand Beach is a sheltered bay with yellow sand, surrounded by cliffs on either side. The beach is approximately 100 metres wide and features a small stream that flows over the beach to the sea. When the tide is out, the beach offers a large expanse of flat sand, ideal for ball games and other activities.
Bovisand Beach is situated on the south coast of Devon, easily accessible from Plymouth. The beach can be reached by bus (number 54) during the summer months, or by car with a steep descent of around 5 minutes from the car park or bus stop. However, the beach may not be suitable for those with mobility problems due to the steep descent.
The beach offers a range of amenities, including the Cliffedge Cafe, which serves tea and cake and offers scenic views of the surrounding area. There are also toilets behind the cafe, although they are reserved for patrons only. Additional pay-and-display parking is available at Crownhill Bay. The beach is popular with families, snorkelers, and young explorers who enjoy the rock pools. On a sunny day, there are views from the beach across to Rame Head in Cornwall.
The beach is situated alongside the South West Coast Path, with Plymouth a 5-mile walk to the north. There are plenty of grassy areas above the beach, perfect for a family picnic, and scenic views of the surrounding area.
Bovisand Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
