The twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand sit across the Tamar from Plymouth, fringing the southern end of a three mile bay. The east-facing sand and shingle beaches are sheltered by Rame Head Peninsula and offer views over Plymouth Sound.
Cawsand is situated on the south coast of Cornwall and features a sand and shingle beach resort, approximately 120 metres wide, close to the village of Cawsand. Cawsand Bay is a charming 17th Century fishing village looking out across the Plymouth Sound.
The National Trust South West Coastal Path runs behind the beach, providing an opportunity for walkers to explore the rugged Rame Head Peninsula. The beach is mainly shingle with patches of sand, making it a popular spot for kayaking, and there is a slipway to launch small craft and dinghys. For those interested in snorkelling, head slightly south of Cawsand near Rowse Rocks and Conger Point.
Visitors can enjoy the traditional May Day festival and parade during the Mayday bank holiday. The beach is dog friendly between 1 October and 30 April, but there are restrictions in the summer. From 1st July to 31st August (10am to 6pm), dogs are banned at Cawsand Beach.
To get to the beach, park at Cawsands Car Park and walk down Armada Road to the seafront. Visitors can also take the Cawsand Ferry, a 30-minute journey to and from the Barbican Landing Stage in Plymouth.
Cawsand Beach is on the Rame Head Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
