Portloe is a picturesque village with a tiny harbour beach, revealed at low tide, which offers a haven of tranquility for those seeking to escape more popular tourist spots. The beach is a narrow, sheltered cove enclosed by towering rock faces, providing a safe area for swimming and snorkelling.
The village offers a glimpse into the traditional Cornish way of life, with local fishermen setting off to catch lobsters and crabs. The harbour is a photographer's dream, with quaint fishing boats bobbing against a backdrop of rugged cliffs. A slipway is available for launching small boats, dinghies, and kayaks, making Portloe an excellent starting point for coastal adventures.
The South West Coast Path runs through the village, offering spectacular walks in either direction. A popular route leads to Nare Head, where breathtaking panoramic views of the Cornish coastline can be enjoyed.
Portloe Beach is on The Roseland Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
