Towan Beach is a south-east-facing beach situated at the southernmost tip of Gerrans Bay, on the Roseland peninsula. The beach is characterised by a mix of shingle and sand, with many rocks and rockpools exposed at low tide. A short path from a small car park at Porth farm provides easy access to the beach.
The beach has no permanent facilities, but refreshments are available during the summer months from The Thirstea Co. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking or wild swimming with guidance from [www.cornishrocktors.com](http://www.cornishrocktors.com). Lavatories and an information area are also available.
The beach can be reached by taking a short walk down a narrow track from a tearoom near the car park, or by taking the ferry from St Mawes. The South West Coast Path runs along the length of the beach, offering scenic walks to nearby attractions such as St Anthony Head.
Towan Beach is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a safe, sheltered, and dog-friendly spot year-round. The beach remains relatively uncrowded even during peak season. The name "Towan" is derived from the Cornish word for "sand dune", although there are no dunes present at this beach.
Towan Beach is on The Roseland Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
