The Estuary is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Nature Reserve. Nestled in a small east facing bay, sheltered from the south westerly breeze and nestled between highcliffs, South Sands is a perfect place to enjoy the beach. The Beach is wide and sandy at low tide, butat high tide the beach is almost completely covered by the rising tide. Ideally located to take full advantage of the excellent sailing, the beach has a regular ferry service to bustling Salcombe.
Salcombe South Sands is on the South Devon Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
